One of the global top 20 pharmaceutical companies is looking for a principal scientist for the role of the digital portfolio manager. Located in the South of Germany, the successful candidate will be part of a growing unit that works with agile, interdisciplinary initiative teams to ensure successful implementation of the entire portfolio.

As digital portfolio manager you will employ digital innovation to actively boost the discovery and development of new medicines to assure sustainable growth of a globally leading and family-owned pharmaceutical company.

You will be accountable for pushing a portfolio of digital initiatives to enable the company’s journey towards data-driven drug development.
Embedded in the growing global computational biology and digital sciences unit you will have an impact on reinventing R&D, thereby actively contributing to the discovery of breakthrough therapies that ultimately will improve the quality of human life.

You are expected to be able to keep projects uptight, to be experienced in enabling teams to succeed and take advantage of your understanding of opportunities in digital innovation.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Coordinate and prepare regular reviews of initiatives and monitor progress and impact.
• Be accountable for access to capabilities that are needed for delivery upon milestones.
• Support financial planning for all initiatives in the portfolio.
• Work with Research, pre-clinical Development and Translational Medicine to prepare digital initiatives for implementation.

Requirements

• PhD in life sciences or computer sciences, alternatively master´s degree in this field with several years of professional experience in an international environment.
• Long-term experience in Pharma R&D or Biotech.
• Sound knowledge in project work, including leadership.
• A strong focus on execution with solid analytical skills.
• Ability to self-organise and to follow-up on agreed upon deliverables
• Excellent communications skills in English as well as a strong digital mindset.
