We have seen increasing demand for our services in Europe and have established an investment management and advisory subsidiary in Germany in 2020 and are hiring for our new Munich office.

Investment Analyst – The Role
You will join an entrepreneurial environment working with a small team in our newly established Munich office. The position provides the opportunity to help growing a new office and business within a global investment firm, combining the benefits and reach of a large international firm with local start-up mind set. You will directly work with the leadership team of our German office and will closely work with colleagues in London and other Cambridge Associates offices.

The role will combine investment analysis and research with marketing and business development. You will work with clients across all of our client groups to provide investment and capital markets research, analysis, and advice to endowments & foundations, pension funds or family offices. You will work multiple clients and handle several projects at once. While all our colleagues are responsible for arranging their priorities in order to meet deadlines, there is a strong tradition of teamwork and cooperation among the practice groups to manage tasks & assignments. Although the position involves quantitative assessment, there is also a strong qualitative component in evaluating investment opportunities and formulating recommendations to clients.

In addition to client work, you will be expected to get involved in business development & marketing as well as capital markets and fund manager research. Right from the start you will have direct exposure to and an opportunity to work with and learn from some of the firm’s most experienced managing directors in research and investments. We will provide you with a mentoring and training scheme and support studies towards further qualifications such as CFA or CAIA.

Responsibilities include:
Support the development of investment strategy and asset allocation recommendations for clients taking into account the opportunities and risks of the current capital market environment

Evaluate and assess investment fund managers’ portfolios and performance
Interfacing with clients and responding to requests
Preparing capital markets exhibits and other client presentation materials
Participate in fund manager meetings and help in conducting in the assessment processes (i.e. writing summaries of meetings for internal distribution)

Help to gather and assess research on target markets, prospective clients and industry trends
Update and maintain prospect and client relationship management systems, producing reports when required
Help to do pro-active assessment on potential markets and clients, preparing prospect outreach and help composing client questionnaires (RFPs) and pitch materials

Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (economics or business degree preferred) with a record of high academic achievement
Fluency in both, English and German (written and spoken) required. Additional Italian language skills a plus
Interest in investments, capital markets and alternative assets (e.g. private equity)
Strong problem-solving, multi-tasking, writing and communication skills
Ability and willingness to engage in conversation with clients, fund managers and selectively references for these
Demonstrated ability to work reliably with little oversight and collaborate as part of a team under tight deadlines.
Solid MS office skills (in particular PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
