We would like to find a live in au pair to be part of our family, starting in June 2020.
We live in one of the Bayside suburbs of Brisbane, about half an hour outside of the city centre. We have two daughters, aged 3.5 years old and 9 months old and are looking for someone to stay with us and provide approximately 35 hours of childcare assistance per week. I work from home, except when I have to go to the city for meetings, and so will be around to provide support where needed.

We are looking for a fun and energetic au pair, who is gentle but firm and generally loves being around children. Our au pair would also need to love animals, as we have a British bulldog.

We try to practice gentle parenting as much as we can, while not being permissive. We don't like timeouts and have never done any type of sleep training. Our oldest daughter is very imaginative and energetic. She hasn't attended any formal childcare, but will be starting kindergarten in 2021. Our younger daughter is a very easy going baby, who is usually very happy unless she is hungry!

Our home is 30 minutes drive from the city centre and about 45 minutes by train. The station is at the end of our street, but our au pair may be able to use one of our cars when available. We live about 7 minutes walk from the waterfront, where there is a lovely Esplanade and Manly harbour. Unfortunately, there isn't really a beach for swimming, but there are lots of cycle and running paths nearby - as well as lots of different playgrounds for the children. We are about 1 hour drive from the beautiful beaches of the Gold Coast, and we try to go to the beach as often as we can. We enjoy sports and outdoor activities, and sometimes like to have friends around for dinner and drinks.

Our house is on two levels and we spend most of our time upstairs - where the living room, kitchen, a bathroom and two of the bedrooms are. Downstairs there are 2 more bedrooms, a bathroom and a playroom with a TV. Our au pair would be given a bedroom downstairs with a Queen sized bed and would have her own bathroom. She would have lots of privacy and could use the playroom as a living room in the evenings.
