The Position

You will be part of a rapidly expanding team of highly skilled professionals who provide network design expertise to a range of customers in the aerospace sector. This position is based at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt. It is full-time and permanent and expected starting date will be around March 2021.

Responsibilities/Duties

• Provision of support, as required, to critical operations.
• Anomaly handling and troubleshooting.
• Monitoring of the communications infrastructure performance, issues investigation and the relevant corrective actions.
• Plan and design the network infrastructure and enterprise network solutions. Responsible for troubleshooting, installing, implementing and administering network systems and providing Tier III support.

Qualifications/Experience

• A university degree in Computer Sciences (or equivalent).
• At least 5 years’ experience as ICT Engineer.
• Cisco CCNP certificate minimum up to CCIE level
• The successful candidate will have strong results-oriented and planning capabilities, coupled with very good problem-solving skills and a pronounced customer focus.
• Applicants should have good communication and negotiation skills, be able to work in a diverse team environment and accomplish goals in line with team objectives.

Essential Skills

In-depth knowledge of Cisco technology and solutions for these environments:

• Cisco Catalyst Switches - c2K, c3K, c4K, c6K, c9K
• Cisco Nexus Switches
• Cisco ASA and Firepower Firewalls
• Cisco ISR and ASR Routers
• Cisco Load balancer
• Cisco WAAS
• Project management experience for short/long term projects.
• An advanced-level command of English and an ability to present output in a clear, concise and understandable way, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks without compromising attention to detail.
• Very good ability in writing technical documentation.
• Pro-active and confident personality.
• Ability to manage assigned activities/tasks taking responsibility and respecting deadlines.

Desirable Skills

• Familiarity with concepts of Virtualization (VMWare, Microsoft Hyper V etc.)
• Experience in network automation and scripting (REST API, Python, RESTCONF/NETCONF)
• Knowledge of Linux and Solaris Operating Systems.
• German language is a plus.
