For our Global Innovation Department at Munich Re, we are looking for an open-minded, curious and engaged intern to support our Innovation Investment Management team. Global Innovation continuously builds promising business models and solutions to meet new demands, leverages opportunities of upcoming technologies and actively shapes emerging markets and industries. Our innovation playing fields include, among others, climate and energy, cyber risks, insurtech, mobility and IoT. To unearth new trends and find the right interdisciplinary partners for our innovation journey, we operate innovation labs around the globe and work together with our Innovation Scouts in the Silicon Valley and Tel Aviv.

Join our Innovation Investment Management team as an intern (minimum 3 months) to experience how Munich Re assures return on innovation on a global portfolio of innovation initiatives. We also have a number of part-time positions for motivated students who are keen to continue working for us after a full-time internship and pursue their studies at the same time.

Your job

• Take responsibility for project and venture assessments and prepare investment decisions
• Work alongside our Innovation Managers and identify opportunities and engage in business plan analysis
• Learn about current and future market trends within the areas of climate, cyber risks, insurtech, mobility and IoT
• Support projects in different phases of the innovation process in market research, customer validation, competitor as well as trend analysis
• Make use of our historical investment data to improve decision-making
• Assist in the preparation of pitches for potential customers, partners and internal stakeholders

Your profile

• Currently enrolled in a master’s program with an above-average bachelor‘s degree and a keen interest in the fields of venture capital, entrepreneurship, digitization in the (re-)insurance sector
• Initial practical experience in a startup, corporate innovation management, venture capital or consulting
• Understanding of the start-up sector and the development of digital business models
• High affinity with societal, political and technological trends and drivers of change topics
• Good communication skills and eagerness to join an international and interdisciplinary team
• Strong analytical skills and comfortable with juggling facts, figures, and number crunching
• Fluency in spoken and written English, sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
