Under the direction of the Parks & Recreation Department and leadership staff, perform routine public contact, onsite operation of the splash pad including coordinating the pavilion rentals and group party rentals, coordinating with maintenance staff, and responsibly act as the O'Fallon Sports Park representative for families utilizing the park.

Pay starts: Min + $.75

Essential Duties

  • Greets the public and answers questions in a friendly manner;
  • Responds to inquiries from employees, customers and others, and refers, when necessary, to appropriate staff;
  • Assists with necessary paperwork such as accident/incident reports, daily activity reports, etc.;
  • Helps prevent accidents and allow for the enjoyment of all patrons through the fair and consistent enforcement of policies, rules and regulations governing the conduct of individuals using the parks & recreation facilities;
  • Provides high quality customer service by being friendly, tactful, courteous and by maintaining an alert and professional posture at all times (dress & personal hygiene);
  • Cooperatively works with other staff to ensure a professional and enjoyable work environment;
  • Perform daily cleaning/organization duties;
  • Additional duties as assigned or requested.

Requires

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • CPR certification encouraged; ability to achieve First Aid & CPR certification after hire;
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time (hours) and be able to lift at least 20 pounds frequently;
  • Physical and mental capacity to perform the essential functions of the position;
  • Reliable way to get to and from work;
  • Ability to act as a role model for participants;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Ability to understand and follow oral &/or written instructions and communicate well both verbally and in writing (English);
  • Qualities such as diplomacy, trustworthiness, reliability, and diligence;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective & courteous working relationships with youth, their parents, other park staff, community organization partners and the general public;
  • 16 years of age and older;
  • MUST be able to work quickly under pressure and be willing and diplomatic in confronting users who are not following park rules.

Supplemental Information

  • Work hours are during the months of May (mid) through September from 11 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday; Saturday and Sunday ranging from 7 am to 3 pm;
  • Work is accomplished in an outdoor environment, subject to weather fluctuations (wide range of temperatures and inclement conditions);
